Cross-Country Skiing

Classic cross-country skiing is ideal for guests wanting an alternative mountain experience. Cross-country skiers will experience our beautufil backcountry areas utilizing Vail's special-use permit into the White River National Forest. We offer half-day beginner - intermediate tours/lessons on Tusdays and Thursdays and intermediate - advanced all day tours on Fridays. Also check out our privates and the NEW PRICING. Our privates accomadate up to six guests and advanced registration is recomanded.

Wanting a different XC experience try our NEW Skin & Ski Tour on Wednesdays. This all day tour introduces people to the use of tele skis and skins and brings your touring to another level.

Beginners can be introduced to the sport on groomed terrain with a lesson at the Beaver Creek Nordic Sports Center (http://www.beavercreek.com/) or call 970-754-5313.

Telemark

Telemark skiing, also known as free-heel skiing, combines the best of cross-country with downhill. No matter what your level, our expert telemark instructors can teach you how to fine-tune your technique, from learning the basics of telemark skiing to making every turn effortless. Lessons availible on Saturdays or privates are availible with advanced booking any day.

Snowshoeing

Designed for those wanting a wilderness adventure, no set tracks here, our snowshoe tours will take you through the White River National Forest. Hear about the history of Eagle County as you spot wildlife and enjoy senic views. Tours are led by well-versed guides who outfit you with the latest equipment from top manufacturers. Our group tours leave seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Full-day and Half-day privates, with our NEW Pricing are also availible with advanced reservations. Our privates accomadate up to six guests.

New snowshoe programs this season include our Beacon & Shovel Tour introducing guests to basic avalanche information and tools while enjoys the backcountry around them. Join us every Thursday 1:00-3:30 for some fun and learning. The Family Tracks Tour is all about getting a parents out in the backcountry with their younger children, ages 6-12. These happen every Tuesday from 1:00-3:30. We are also offering a Nordic Sampler so you can experience three different Nordic activities, Snowshoing, XC-Skiing, and Telemark skiing on three consecutive days.

Facilities & Amenities: All programs meet in the Golden Peak Lodge, the far eastern base area on Vail Mountain, at the Nordic Desk on the lobby level. We then head out in suburbans to our trailhead locations.
