The Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Ski Center is idyllically situated at 9,000 ft in the Grand County Valley of Colorado. At this altitude we are perfectly situated for collecting excellent early and late season snow. The Snow Mountain Ranch features 100-kms of groomed ski and snowshoe trails for all abilities, as well as a 3-km illuminated loop for night skiing. In addition, Snow Mountain Ranch provides lodging for groups and individuals wishing to experience the Rocky Mountains while enjoying some of the best Nordic Skiing in the Country. 

Our Specialty:
Undoubtedly some of the best Nordic Skiing in the country! Given our location, terrain, facilities, snow and weather, Snow Mountain Ranch is the closest thing to Nordic Heaven!

Must Do: Put on a pair of skis in the morning and just glide on our freshly groomed trails as you experience the sense of "ahhhssss…"

Terrain: There are over 85-kms of groomed trails for both classical and skating technique as well as snowshoeing, plus an additional 20-kms of packed snowshoe and walking-only trails.

Facility & Amenities: 
A 5100-acre Family Vacation and Conference Center YMCA with accommodations for 1800 winter guests in either Family Cabins or Hotel-Style lodging. A variety of dining options are available on-site.

 

Services: 
At the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Ski Center we offer rental packages, group and private lessons, a children's program, full waxing services with available wax room for guests, a retail ski shop and a "Skinny Ski Grill" serving delicious food and beverages. Other activities available at Snow Mountain Ranch through our "Programming" Dept. are: guided snowshoe hikes, sleigh rides, a fully staffed Outdoor Education School featuring a "ropes course", zip-line, climbing wall, outdoor ecology classes, etc. Furthermore, Snow Mountain Ranch has a 25 yard pool, weight room facilities, gymnasium and roller rink, all available for our guests.

Other Services:
A craft center and full gymnasium as well as winter horse back riding and guided full moon, ski and snowshoe excursions. In addition, a daily shuttle to the Winter Park alpine area.

Food Service: 
Snow Mountain Ranch offers a variety of dining options on site. 

Special Events: 
The Snow Mountain Ranch Stampede Ski Marathon (March 1, 2003) featuring a 21-km classic and 21-km skate race, a 42-km classic and 42-km skate race, including a 5-km freestyle race for all ages.

The Barneloppet: Children's Race (March 8th 2003)

The Snow Mountain Ranch Classic 15-km Race: (January 11th 2003).

"The Wooly" A Retro Ski Race: (December 21st 2002) Family friendly distance, wear wool and old school, no Lycra allowed! 

"Wednesday Night Under the Lights:" Begins December 18th and continues every Wednesday night of the Ski Season (6pm) at the Lighted Loop. Series consists of relay and sprint races plus tons-o-fun.

Directions: From Denver: take I-70 west to the US-40 exit 232; travel west over Berthoud Pass into Winter Park and then 14 miles further on US-40 to the YMCA Rockies/Snow Mountain Ranch facility; turn left into the Ranch and follow signs (or check at the Administration Bldg. for directions) to the Nordic Ski Center.

From Grand Junction: take I-70 east to Dillon; exit north onto Colo.Hwy.9, continue into Kremmling and then exit right (east) onto US-40; continue east on US-40 past the town of Granby 6 miles to the Snow Mountain Ranch facility.
